![The red saree
When I wore a saree on my birthday, one of my friends Amit said “what’s the story of the saree you are wearing today? Every saree has a story.”
Truly it does. Like this one.
Here it goes …
This is my wedding saree.
It took me exactly 12 minutes to buy it, which includes going in the store, seeing, billing and getting out.
When we were getting married my parents in-law brought me an orange and gold Kanjeevaram. I had always wanted to wear an absolutely purest red colour saree on the D day. But because they brought it with so much love I gave in. It was an absolutely stunning saree. No doubt.
The word to read here is ‘WAS’.
Because the universe always decides to grant me all my wishes come what may & in whichever way possible. 😬 sometimes the process to reach my wishes hurts but by the end of it I am happy that my wish got fulfilled. 🍀
A week before we were going to sign the marriage contract, the lovely (forgetful) Mr. Sharma @onlymanojsharma forgot a big bag of my wedding sarees in a rickshaw.
[the women who are reading this- Behen they were 9 pure silk sarees gifted by my mother, socho! And I still married this man after that. I AM STILL MARRIED TO HIM. Let’s just say this is my absolute kindness & his great luck :))]
The bag contained the marriage day saree too. A new saree had to be brought. So my parents in law asked me to come, select it this time.
In we went .. I told the salesperson just show me the purest red saree & don’t bother about any other colour at all. She brought 3 red sarees. Only 1 was pure red.
This one. 🌹
I shouted delightfully
THIS IS IT.
My parents in-law were a bit surprised by how fast I chose it or maybe the super excited laughter (read: loud) I let out. They asked- ‘pakka? Aur dekhlo.’
I was laughing. NAHIN. Yehi hai. I will sign the marriage papers in this one.
as for the sarees I lost, I really hope it reached the right place & the woman who got it, wore them with more delight than me. I know you look stunning in all of them. My mother’s choice in sarees is supremely good.
